A new home for padel near Hertford

The Ponsbourne Club sits on a historic estate at Ponsbourne Park, between Hertford, Cuffley and Potters Bar. It's the fourth Padel X Club, joining Todenham Barn and Cirencester in the Cotswolds and Burghley Park near Stamford.

Like all our clubs, Ponsbourne is open to everyone. Whether you've never held a padel racket or you already play three times a week, you can book a court, bring three friends and get playing. If you're not sure where to start, our free Intro to Padel sessions are the easiest way in (more on those below).

The courts

We've built four doubles padel courts, all open air and surrounded by trees, so you get countryside views between points.

  • Surface: advanced monofilament turf, engineered for a consistent bounce and built to last.
  • Lighting: LED floodlights, so you can keep playing into the evening, even in the darker months.
  • Kit: forgot your racket? Mantis and Pallap rackets, balls and drinks are available from the self-service vending, with racket hire from £5 per player.
  • Parking: free, on site, for players and visitors.

Meet Yetz Café

Every great club needs somewhere to sit down afterwards, and at Ponsbourne that's Yetz Café. It's a relaxed, welcoming space inside the club pavilion, and it's open to everyone, whether you've just come off court or you're simply after a morning coffee.

Jo and the team serve great coffee, fresh food, light bites, cakes and refreshments in a bright conservatory looking out over the courts, with a sunny terrace for warmer days. On our last visit the counter had spelt banana loaf, no-added-sugar blueberry muffins, banana breakfast bars and protein balls, alongside iced lattes and freshly made bowls.

It's the perfect place to wait for your court, catch up with your playing partners over a post-match coffee, or bring along friends and family who'd rather watch than play.

Launch day: an Americano to kick things off

We opened the doors with a launch event and, fittingly, an Americano: padel's most social format, where you swap partners every game and everyone keeps their own score. Congratulations again to our first Ponsbourne Americano winners!

New to padel? Start here

Padel is a doubles racket sport played on an enclosed court about a third smaller than a tennis court, with walls you can play the ball off. Serves are underarm and scoring is the same as tennis, so most people are rallying within their first session.

All Padel X Clubs, including Ponsbourne, run FREE Intro to Padel sessions, followed by Improver, Intermediate and Advanced coaching, coached matches and Americano social sessions. We deliver all our coaching with The Padel Playbook, so the levels are the same at every club. See the coaching pathway.

Good to know

If heavy rain stops play on our uncovered courts, you can reschedule or get a credit refund, as long as you've played less than 50% of your session. Email hello@padelx.club within seven days with your booking details.
